500pts beginners game

Intro game
So after a couple of evenings of getting some quick and dirty scheme down on my concord troops, one of the local players who's just bought into the system for the Concord faction came out for an intro game.
We played a standard "kill em all" mission to get the mechanics down and keep things simple, but it turned out he'd already had a really good read through the rules and had nailed down all the basics, including reactions too!
I'd knocked up two 500points lists from the stuff I had painted:

Algoryn
-Command squad (5man + medi)
-AI squad (+micro-x +repeater +leader repeater) 
-AI squad (+micro-x +leader repeater)
-Avenger Skimmer (+mag cannon)

Concord
-Command squad (+medi)
-C3 squad (+lance and spotter)
-C3 squad (+lance and spotter)
-C3D1 (+extra C3D1)

 We played on my custom-build refinery board at Stronghold games on a 4x4 board which was more than enough space for this points size.

 Initial turns were cagey, both sides sprinting into position and suffering pins from exhaustion in the process

 Ian moved a C3 squad into firing position on a balcony early on and proceeded to lay down a hail of suppressive fire throughout the rest of the game, bossing any mag cannon attempts to dislodge them with several RES rolls of a 1!!

 Suprisingly resilient bastards with a cracking view down a central-ish fire corridor

 My central squad were not long for the world, rapidly getting suppresed, flanked and obliterated due to a fail break test on a 10.
My rightmost squad charged his command squad and avenged them in CC, wiping them in PBS!

My Avenger lining up shots on the balcony in the early game achieved little other than a few pins. A glorious shot on the gun drone unit in the later phase looked like it could be a game winner but alas, they passed a CO test on a 1, lost all pins and shot it out of the sky, breaking my forces and winning the game!!



Really fun game that swung both ways throughout the turns.
Ian is a veteran of many systems and has already got a cracking basis for a 1k C3 force so I expect to be duelling with those regularly from now on in!
